SOMEWHERE WITH MAN'S BEST FRIEND (TL) -- I had to take my dog, Boomer, in for his annual shots today.
On the way out, a very elderly woman was standing in the lobby. She was leaning against the wall and holding a leash. She smiled and petted Boomer on the head. Boomer is two and can be rambunctious at times. But, perhaps sensing her frailty, he calmly sat and licked her hand as she petted him.
She said Boomer looked just like her dog. A point the assistant standing behind the counter echoed.
Then she turned and started out the door with the leash. She turned and said she had to put her dog down. She smiled, pet Boomer on the head again and said "good boy."
Then she left, clutching the leash. Alone.
